My School Days: A Journey of Memories and Learning

August 15, 2024
Growing up in Sainthia, a small town in Birbhum district, school was where everything happened. My years of study were split between two institutions: Sainthia Town High School for my secondary years, and Sainthia High School for my higher secondary studies. Looking back, those days were a mix of morning assemblies, heavy school bags, pocket money spent on street food, and the gradual discovery of what I wanted to do with my life. Sainthia Town High School is where my foundational memories were made. Life was simpler then. The days moved to the sound of the school bell, class periods, and the rush to the playground during recess. I remember the chaotic classrooms, the wooden benches carved with names of previous students, and the teachers who knew every family in town. We studied with physical textbooks and blackboard notes, and it was there that my curiosity for science and mathematics first took hold. Winter was always the best time of year. It brought the annual sports day, where the entire school gathered on the dusty playground and cheered for classmates during sprint races and long jumps. The simple pleasure of sharing lunch under the sun with friends, arguing over cricket matches, and walking back home along the town roads, which laid the foundation of who I am today.

After finishing class 10, I moved to Sainthia High School for my higher secondary education. The change felt significant. The campus was different, the class structures more formal, and the academic focus shifted from general subjects to specialized science streams. This was a period of intense preparation and personal growth. The physics and chemistry labs, which once seemed mysterious, became places where I spent hours on experiments. I remember the smell of chemical reagents, the frustration of circuits that wouldn't work, and the guidance of teachers who encouraged us to look beyond board exams. It wasn't just the academics, though. The camaraderie during private coaching sessions, working through complex math problems with classmates, and the shared anxiety before board exams built strong bonds. During these two years, my interest in electronics and engineering solidified and led me to choose Electronics and Communication Engineering for my degree. Sainthia Town High School gave me early friendships, basic discipline, and town memories. Sainthia High School gave me academic focus, critical thinking, and helped me choose my path. As I work through university and engineering projects today, the lessons from those classrooms and labs in Sainthia stay with me. They were not just academic steps; they were the years that shaped my character and gave me the confidence to pursue my goals.
